4 Events to Get You in the Christmas Spirit

Fall is finally here and that means Christmas is just around the corner. The city of Hancock already has a few upcoming events that are sure to get you and your family in the Christmas spirit. These are just a few of the Christmas events in the Hancock area to look forward to.

North Pole Express
Beginning on Nov. 29, 2019, the Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation will transform into a magical holiday experience. Every Friday and Saturday from 5:30- 9 p.m. and Sundays from 5:30- 8:30 p.m. families can take a ride on the North Pole Express. Tickets are just $4 for adults and $3 for children under the age of 12. The train, brightly decorated for Christmas, will take you and your family through the park where you can enjoy the Christmas lights and structures.

Even a visit to the train station is exciting with multiple Christmas trees, thousands of twinkling lights, and a toy train that circles the center. Older children will also enjoy the train ride with fun games and contests including the Elf Hunt, which encourages children to find the hiding elf among the many holiday decorations.

Bluffton Blaze of Lights
The Bluffton Blaze of Lights is scheduled for Nov. 30, 2019, beginning at 5 p.m. This event is the official beginning of the holiday season for many Bluffton and Hancock locals. The event attracts thousands of visitors from all over Ohio to watch the first flickering lights of Christmas at nightfall.

There will be a parade, live musical entertainment, children’s games, and a lighting ceremony. Many of the local businesses will also be open. This event is free and is family-friendly with entertainment available for all ages. You can be involved in the parade or enter your home’s decorations into the city contest by submitting an application with the city.

Christmas Open House
On Saturday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, at 1 p.m., the Hull family will open their doors to the locals of Hancock to celebrate the Christmas holiday. The celebration will take you back to the 1890s when times were simpler and the entire community would come together to celebrate.

You can expect live music, children’s crafts and games, holiday stories, and even a visit from Father Christmas himself. The entire Hancock Historical Museum will also be decorated for Christmas with thousands of brightly lit bulbs. Drinks and other light snacks will be available for purchase, with prices starting at just $1.

Hancock Historical Museum 26th Annual Victorian Christmas Dinner
You can also visit the Hancock Historical Museum on either Dec. 13 or Dec. 14, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. for a unique Christmas dinner celebration. The dinner will be set in the late 1800s, complete with decorations, table settings, and food. Tickets start at just $75 for members and $100 for nonmembers and will include entrance to the museum and a four-course meal. This event is the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors and to celebrate the upcoming holiday.
